SMC, short for Sheet Molding Compound, is a sheet material manufactured by special SMC molding units with unsaturated polyester resin, glass fiber roving and other auxiliary materials. After thickening and cutting, the sheet is placed into matched metal molds and cured under high temperature and high pressure.

As a new type of glass fiber reinforced plastic, commonly known as fiberglass, SMC and its molded products feature diversified processing methods, including hand lay-up, spray molding, pultrusion, filament winding, resin transfer molding and compression molding.
